TouchlineAlpha analyses league power dynamics and inequalities based on the Club Strength Coefficients from which we derive the League Inequality Index.
League Inequality Index (LII)
Measures how unequally strength is distributed across clubs within a league. A high LII reflects greater inequality in the distribution of strength, while a low LII reflects a more evenly matched, competitive league. Based on the distribution of Club Strength Coefficients within the league each season.
Club Strength Coefficient (CSC)
A power ranking of clubs within their league, based on market odds expectations and squad market value. Ranges from 1.0 for the strongest club down to 0 for the weakest, allowing direct comparison of strength across teams. A measure of club strength, not club performance.
